January 2026

We have well and truly started this year with a BANG!

In English, we have studied the book 'Prince Cinders' by Babette Cole. We have sequenced the story, thought our own adventure for the Prince and created our very own story. The children have thought creatively about their work and we were so proud of the results!

In Maths, we have looked at capacity and how different containers hold different amounts of liquid.

In Art, we have delved deep into colour mixing and how this can be used in our own paintings.

In PE, we have developed our skills of throwing a ball and rolling it with accuracy. We have even used these skills in a game situation.

Handwriting has been a skills which we have been working on for quite some time now and the results have been brilliant!

December 2025

December has been a fabulous month which as been packed full of festive fun and learning!

We started the month with our festive lunch which was served by the teachers and staff. Everyone had so much fun, told jokes and enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner.

In Science, we continued our unit about microhabitats and we made a choice chamber for some every lucky woodlice. We gave them the choice of damp or dry conditions and watched what happened!

In Geography, we looked at the difference between the hot and cold places on Earth. We located them on a map and decided which area we would prefer to live in.

In Maths, we studied money and using it in real-life contexts with addition and subtraction.

In DT, we researched which would be the strongest shape structure for a chair for our special guest - an elf! Then, we designed our chair and made it for him.

We also had some time with a yoga expert and she told us about the importance of relaxing when life gets a little hectic. We looked at techniques to control our breathing and practiced yoga poses too.

October 2025

In the beginning of October, we performed our poem in front of lots of people. The poem we chose was 'Oh dear, look what I got' by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury. The children were amazing and performed the poem with actions they had created too!
